Initial Results of UK EV Driver Study Show Increased Confidence and Low Cost Recharging

Green Car Congress

The average cost to trial participants for recharging at home is between 25p and £1 (US$0.40 The data analyzed by Aston University combines and compares the behavior patterns of 25 Mitsubishi i-MiEV drivers over two consecutive quarters. The low cost of ‘refuelling’ in relatively short periods of time reinforce this.

Study finds vertical force of in-wheel switched reluctance motors deteriorates vehicle stability and comfort

Green Car Congress

In a switched reluctance motor (SRM), torque is produced by the magnetic attraction of a steel rotor to stator electromagnets; there are no permanent magnets, and the rotor carries no windings. With suitable timing of the stator excitation, the machine can operate as a motor or generator. Earlier post.). Earlier post.).

CPT Brings TIGERS Technology to VIPER Project for Enhanced Energy Recovery

Green Car Congress

The project is being led by Jaguar Land Rover. Other consortium members include Ford, IAV, BP, University of Nottingham and Imperial College London. This compensates for turbo lag and is more cost-effective than integrating a 25 kW electric motor into the powertrain since only a 12-volt system is required, CPT notes.
