Create liability for “reasonably foreseeable misuse” and negligence: Developers of AI systems should be legally liable for harms caused to both individuals and to society. Unfortunately, given the misaligned incentives in the current AI and information ecosystems, it’s unlikely that industry will take these actions unless forced to do so.
