Batteries encompass a range of chemistries. Others solid battery types are nickel-cadmium and sodium-sulphur, while zinc-air is emerging. Energy storage with hydrogen, which is still emerging, would involve its conversion from electricity via electrolysis for storage in tanks.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles.
