Renewable-methanol fueled Geely cars in fleet testing in Iceland; 70% reduction in WTW CO2 compared to gasoline

For the last 18 months, a fleet of 6 methanol-fueled versions of the Geely Emgrand 7 cars have been in Iceland. In the recently concluded first phase of the fleet test, the cars were driven roughly 150,000 kilometers (93,000 miles). Geely is a shareholder ($45.5-million Earlier post.). Planning for the next phase is already underway.

Reva to bring new electric car to Iceland

Reva, the Indian electric car company best known for the G-Whiz in England, has signed a deal to bring their new product to Iceland with sales beginning within a year. nk City-like footprint, 100 mile range and 65 mph top speed. Electricity is a more renewable resource than ice in Iceland. None for sale.

Shell has opened its second hydrogen filling station in the greater New York City area. With a third due to open in the area later this month and one already operating there for more than a year, this is Shell’s first cluster of hydrogen filling stations. The prospects for hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles are strong in the longer-term.

California-to-Canada Road Tour is Finale for Daimlers A-Class F-CELL; B-Class F-Cell Due to Customers by End of 2009

Daimler’s A-Class F-CELL hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle will cap five years of road trials in the US with its participation in the California to Canada Hydrogen Road Tour 09 ( earlier post ). The A-Class F-CELL in Iceland. In 2007, an F-CELL A-Class reached 100,000 miles and 2,500 operating hours without stack repair or replacement.
