Hyundai introduced its refreshed IONIQ car lineup in a North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. IONIQ Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid and Electric cars all receive refreshed exterior and interior designs, added infotainment technology and new Hyundai SmartSense active safety features and driving assistance systems.

The Hertz Corporation, which includes the Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty brands, has expanded of its Green Traveler Collection car rental fleet to include the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid ( earlier post ) in select cities across the US. All of the Green Traveler cars have fuel efficiency ratings starting at 33+ highway mpg.

In order to win the United States MPG crown for the 1985 through 1987 model years (for 1988, the Sprint Metro replaced the Sprint ER), the Sprint ER had a taller final drive gear ratio and a stingier camshaft than the regular Sprint. The Sprint ER shouldn't be compared to modern hybrids or EVs, though. Crushes the Hyundai Excel.

After driving 246 miles through Southern California counties of Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego, we had 30 miles of range remaining on the dash gauge. So Genesis, you did a great job. EPA at 235 miles.

Hyundai will introduce a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle to the market in 2012, according to Dr. Byungsoon Min, of Hyundai Motor Company R&D Center, presenting at the SAE 2010 Hybrid Vehicle Technologies Symposium in San Diego this week. Hyundai will launch its full parallel hybrid Sonata in the US this year.
