V2G helps solve the major problem that demand for electricity is high during the day when everything from industrial plants to air conditioning is running full blast and then excess electricity is wasted at night. Several early models of passenger vehicles have enough energy stored in advanced batteries to power several homes for hours.

Also, besides giving you the ability to charge at night when most utility rates are lower, future vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology may allow you to sell some of your stored energy back to the utilities. Currently, there are some industrial facilities that use battery swapping to replenish the energy stores of electric forklifts.

GM will leapfrog Toyota and Honda by providing an electric car to the masses by the end of next year. Honda has probably sold more Civics in a year than the combined total of all 18 of those GM models. If the EV1 was viable (or even close) we would see Ford, Toyota, Honda, etc all with 80 mile cars right now.do you see that?
