The propane fleet will replace gasoline- and diesel-fueled vehicles used largely in rural areas in Louisiana and Oklahoma with other states pending. States that attract this type of investment with tax incentives and grants will factor into the UPS deployment strategy. Operations will begin by mid-2014 and be completed early next year.

The vehicles and infrastructure being funded include the use of natural and renewable gas, propane, ethanol, biodiesel, electricity, and hybrid technologies. Like the Recovery Act-funded projects, the annual Clean Cities projects include grants for vehicles, infrastructure, and education. Total DOE award: $14,999,905.
