A new analysis of the real-world usage of more than 100,000 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles shows a large deviation between on-road CO 2 emissions and fuel efficiency and the official vehicle type-approval values. The real-world share of electric driving for PHEVs, on average, is about half the share considered in the type-approval values.

The Cadillac Converj extended-range electric vehicle Concept uses the Voltec platform. As part of the culling, GM has the option to re-badge vehicles from the non-core brands, such as the Pontiac G8, Opel Insignia and Saturn Vue. Re-badging is a sensitive topic with the OEMs and their desire to highlight the differences among brands.

The PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle), a subset of the electric car, combines a primary electric motor with a much smaller back-up engine fueled with a hydrocarbon/biofuel mix. (In In this paper PHEV refers solely to the long-range PHEV of 60 miles (100 km) electric-only range.) It is much more than that.
