DLR-led NEMESIS 2+ project develops compact direct steam reformer for diesel/biodiesel to H2

Green Car Congress

The NEMESIS2+ hydrogen generation system consists of a desulfurization module for liquid feedstock (diesel/biodiesel) followed by a reformer module, where catalytic conversion is accomplished by steam reforming with subsequent water-gas-shift reaction. A pressure swing adsorption unit (PSA) is used for hydrogen purification.

Researchers find that the global carbon pool in seagrass beds is as much as 19.9B metric tons

Green Car Congress

Some 29% of all historic seagrass meadows have been destroyed, mainly due to dredging and degradation of water quality. Seagrass meadows, the researchers found, store 90% of their carbon in the soil, and continue to build on it for centuries. Seagrasses are also among the world’s most threatened ecosystems. At least 1.5% Apostolaki, Gary A.

Electrochemical Haber-Bosch process for ammonia production; 50% the CO2 and 25% the energy

Green Car Congress

In ammonia plants, hydrogen is generated by steam-methane reforming (SMR) and water-gas shift (WGS) and, subsequently, is purified for the high-pressure ammonia synthesis. Ammonia, produced via the Haber-Bosch (HB) process, is globally the leading chemical in energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. Kyriakou et al.
