The new approach to wing construction could afford greater flexibility in the design and manufacturing of future aircraft. For testing purposes, this initial wing was hand-assembled, but future versions could be assembled by specialized miniature robots. The wing was tested in a NASA wind tunnel. in Moffett Field, California.
