In an event combining a first-customer ceremony and a media drive, Tustin (California) Hyundai’s Dealer Principal, John Patterson, handed over the keys to Hyundai’s first mass-produced Tucson Fuel Cell crossover ( earlier post ) to Timothy Bush, the first Hyundai Fuel Cell customer, with Hyundai executives in attendance.

The first of Hyundai’s Tucson Fuel Cell CUVs arrived in Southern California; first retail sales are expected in the next few weeks. The fuel cell vehicles will be available at three select southern California Hyundai dealers: Tustin Hyundai; Win Hyundai in Carson; and Hardin Hyundai in Anaheim.

Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell drivers have accumulated more than three million miles on the roads and highways of both Southern and Northern California. Hyundai has delivered more than 150 Tucson Fuel Cell crossovers since its introduction as the first mass-produced fuel cell vehicle in the US market in 2014.

Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell drivers have accumlulated more than two million miles on the roads and highways of both Southern and Northern California. These fuel cell CUVs have replaced approximately 760 tons of CO 2 emissions that would have been emitted by vehicles of similar size and capability.

Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell drivers recently accumulated more than 238,900 miles on the roads of Southern California—a distance Hyundai chose to highlight as the average distance from the earth to the moon. Hyundai has delivered more than 60 Tucson Fuel Cells since its introduction to the US market in June 2014 ( earlier post ).

Hyundai and the US Department of Energy (DOE) are extending their fuel cell vehicle confirmation program, originally from 2013 through 2015, to a second phase, from 2016 through 2017. This phase of the program will make significant use of a newly-opened hydrogen refueling station in the Washington DC region. DC-based hydrogen station.
