Our goal is to enable owners to enlist a local electrician/engineer to convert their cars, initially with lead-acid batteries, for under $6,000 and less than two person-weeks of time. (We We will have similar solutions available for better (but more expensive) nickel-metal hydride or lithium-ion batteries.)

that car was missing precisely what the Volt (and any other would-be electric car under consideration today) is missing -- an appropriate battery technology that provides decent power within a decent weight and space constraint at anything approaching a decent price. 150 miles is fine more. Interesting in any case.
