Participating Chevrolet dealers in seven key launch markets across Canada have begun taking orders for the all-new 2012 Chevrolet Volt, with an MSRP starting at C$41,545 (US$43,568). Almost nine of 10 customers who traded in a vehicle as part of their purchase are new to the Chevrolet brand.

GM will introduce the Chevrolet Volt extended range electric vehicle with a starting MSRP of $41,000; after applying the Federal income tax credit of $7,500, the price drops to $33,500. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in launch markets late this year, with initial production of 10,000 units for the first year.

The Caliber ReEV propulsion system employs a 1.0L, 3-cylinder, 4 valve engine that is mated to a UQM PP75 generator that provides 41 kW of continuous power in extended-range mode, with a peak power of 75kW.
