GM will introduce the Chevrolet Volt extended range electric vehicle with a starting MSRP of $41,000; after applying the Federal income tax credit of $7,500, the price drops to $33,500. The Volt has a total driving range of about 340 miles (547 km) and is powered by electricity at all times.

The list of electric vehicles qualified for the EV tax credit in calendar year 2024 has been released. Also of note: No Rivian electric truck qualifies for the full $7,500 tax credit amount in 2024, at this time. The credit amount on these models has fallen to $3,750. And as expected, it’s very short.

GM has been saying for a while now that they had picked their supplier for the LiIon battery in the Volt, but they weren’t prepared to announce who it was.
