MIT study: half of US deaths related to air pollution are linked to out-of-state emissions

Green Car Congress

More than half of all air-quality-related early deaths in the United States are a result of emissions originating outside of the state in which those deaths occur, MIT researchers report in a paper in the journal Nature. Electric power generation is the greatest contributor to out-of-state pollution-related deaths, the findings suggest.

Study identifies Bakken Formation alone as responsible for ~2% of global ethane emissions

Green Car Congress

The Bakken Formation, a shale oil and gas field in North Dakota and Montana, is emitting roughly 2% (about 250,000 tons per year) of the globe’s ethane, according to new study led by researchers at the University of Michigan. They directly impact air quality across North America. Ground-level ozone leads to poor air quality.
