Smith Electric Vehicles US Corporation (SEVUS) and Altec Industries Inc. have developed an all-electric utility truck with an aerial device. The truck is a battery-powered, all-electric Smith Newton produced by SEV US and SEV UK with an aerial bucket integrated by Altec Industries Inc. Earlier post.).

Coca-Cola, Staples, Frito-Lay, AT&T, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L) are the first Newton customers in the USA. It can be recharged in six hours. Newton was launched in the UK by Smith Electric Vehicles in 2006.

The Smith Edison is a pure electric version of the Ford Transit van. Its lithium-ion batteries deliver top speed of 50 mph (80 km/h), a range of up to 100 miles (161 km) on a single charge and can be recharged from flat to full in 6-8 hours.
