Large-scale study associates even brief exposure to PM2.5 with childhood lung infections

Even the briefest increase in airborne PM 2.5 is associated with the development of acute lower respiratory infection (ALRI) in young children, according to a new, large-scale study published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine , an American Thoracic Society journal. Increases in PM 2.5 levels also led to increased doctor visits for these lung infections.
