Epic electric road trip: After 3 years and 33 countries, it's a wrap

Wiebe Wakker took one very long drive in an electric car—for a total of 1119 days, covering 59,000 miles and traversing portions of 33 countries on the way from the Netherlands to Australia. It was, by just about any standard, an epic road trip.

DOE to award up to $100M for future coal plants in Coal FIRST initiative

The US Department of Energy (DOE) intends to provide up to $100 million in awards ( DE-FOA-0002116 ) for the Coal FIRST (Flexible, Innovative, Resilient, Small, and Transformative) initiative (announced in November 2018), which aims to develop coal plants of the future that will provide secure, stable, reliable power with near-zero emissions. In 2017, coal was the second-largest energy source for electricity generation in the United States.

Eaton to supply high-performance inverters for battery-electric passenger vehicle for PSA JV

Power management company Eaton’s eMobility business was chosen by Nidec-PSA Emotors (Emotors), a joint venture between Nidec Leroy-Somer and Groupe PSA, to supply high-performance traction inverters for a battery-electric vehicle platform. Eaton will provide its power-dense inverters to Emotors, which will integrate it with the motor and ship the finished system to its customers for assembly into the battery electric vehicle.
