Chinese automakers are disappointed with the sales figures of hybrid and electric vehicles, according to a report in the Global Times. Due to its poor sales volume, Changan Auto said that its hybrid vehicle Jiexun HEV has gone out of production for one year.

In MY 2013, there were 11 EVs and 4 PHEVs available in the market; MY 2014 has 12 (counting the Tesla Model S 60 and 80 as one) EVs on the market and 10 PHEVs, along with the lone CNG car, the Honda Civic. (In More are coming to the US market, such as the Audi A3 e-tron plug-in hybrid and Volkswagen e-Golf BEV.

BYD’s plug-in hybrid F3DM went on sale (for fleet operators) late last year, and it’s supposed to launch its first all-electric model — the E6 — in the second half of 2009. BYD plans to sell its electric E6 and a plug-in hybrid sedan in the U.S. and EU buyers.

Audi RS models – performance flagships set to pick up plug-in hybrid tech as early as 2021. BMW M cars – they’re coming with hybrid drivetrains. BYD e6 – mid-sized SUV confirmed for Australia, sort of… only 15 are coming here. Before then expect a hybrid to keep the V8 love roaring.
