In the interim, if Saturn retailers or other investors present a plan that would allow a spin-off or sale of Saturn Distribution Corporation, GM would be open to any such possibility.

Non-core brand sales declined when compared with June as Pontiac dipped 7%; Saturn was down 21%, and HUMMER and Saab declined 26%. Dodge Journey, Avenger and Caliber and Jeep Patriot and Compass registered their best July sales ever. Dodge Caliber sales were up 63% (7,718 units) compared with July 2008.

Even he recognizes that the Volt will make historians forget about the (in my opinion) entirely forgettable Dodge Viper he concocted at Chrysler, as well as the 1000 horsepower Cadillac Sixteen concept car of a few years ago. The Volt will even make people forget that it was Lutz who gave us the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky.
