The most common choices of battery type are lithium iron phosphate (aka LFP or LiFePO 4 ), all of the other lithium-ion chemistries (including recycled batteries from junked EVs), and, finally, lead-acid. The last option is venerable old lead-acid, though perhaps it’s best to relegate it to the proverbial dustbin of history.

The revised Think from Think Global has emerged as popular in Europe with a more stylish design than the earlier iteration. It features ABS brakes, dual airbags, and is designed to meet all European and U.S. They are either glorified golf cart city cars like this one or they are only for the very wealthy like the Tesla.

at least, the recycling infrastructure for the well-established lead-acid batteries is robust. lead-acid batteries have a far better recycling rate than even aluminum bottles — over 90% of lead-acid batteries are recycled. None of the new electric cars are planning to use old-tech lead acid batteries.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. I had surmised this in my 2002 car design thesis [link] even before anyone was talking about plug in series hybrids. check your facts. 30 mpg is NOT efficient.
