General Motors announced a demonstration project ( earlier post ) to explore market needs and customer acceptance of battery electric vehicles in Korea. On a standard household 220-volt outlet, the Cruze EV can be fully recharged in 8 to 10 hours. The demo project is expected to launch by the end of October. Click to enlarge.

At the opening of Auto Guangzhou 2012, Shanghai General Motors launched its first localized new energy vehicle, the Sail SPRINGO EV. kWh Li-ion pack enabling an electric range of up to 15 miles (24 km) at speeds of up to 62 mph (100 km/h), according to Toyota. The production plug-in hybrid has a number of key changes from the 125 prototype demo units that were deployed in the field for testing and customer feedback. The demo units defaulted to EV mode.
