Attaining environmental benefits and lower cost of ownership are driving more commercial fleets to electrify, according to a new study by UPS and GreenBiz. A lower total cost of ownership—factoring in both direct and indirect costs and savings over the life of the vehicle—is the second biggest driver, cited by 64% of respondents.

The evaluation will consider the impacts, processes, market effects and costs of the program, and will help to guide future program efforts. The demonstration vehicles include tree maintenance trucks and a telephone pole installation truck. Electricore Inc. will receive $2,325,954 to demonstrate battery-electric medium-duty trucks.

Laredo Bus Facility Solar Canopies: Provide shade structures with integrated, grid tied photovoltaic cells to be erected on the bus storage lot at the Laredo Bus Maintenance Facility. This grant would allow ConnDOT to upgrade the upcoming purchases of buses and would fund the incremental cost of a hybrid bus compared to a conventional bus.

The grant will allow the transit system to install larger, higher capacity fueling compressors that will cut in half the time needed to refuel a CNG bus at its South Bay Maintenance Facility. The project lowers the price of biodiesel by reducing the cost of distribution in the southern part of the San Francisco Bay area.
