AQDSH 2 refers to the reduced form of AQDS. Quinones are naturally abundant, inexpensive, small organic molecules, and similar to molecules that store energy in plants and animals. Flow batteries store energy in chemical fluids contained in external tanks, as with fuel cells, instead of within the battery container itself.

If you don’t build something like that, people can’t refer to it. Once your total cost of ownership is lower with a zero-emission vehicle, then that’s a spreadsheet decision.

Renault and Nissan are determined to establish an early lead in the new massmarket for electric cars. Their solution to the cost of thenew-generation batteries is to separate them from the car itself. Only when we have an efficient method of electricity storage will the electric car/van/bus become a viable proposition.
