The Hertz Corporation is introducing compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles to its fleet in the US. All vehicles will include NeverLost GPS units to assist renters in mapping local CNG refueling stations. Oklahoma City is serving as a pilot program for Hertz’s CNG airport rentals program. —Mark P.

The converted hybrids were developed with Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) and Eaton Corporation, which provided the hybrid-electric systems ( earlier post ). The 92 retrofitted hybrid vehicles will be placed into service in California, primarily in the Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco metropolitan areas.
