We now have three working converted prototypes (both described in Fact Sheet above, shown in photos and here ): The Calcars first proof-of-concept: (100+ mpg plus electricity, 10-mile electric range, now with temporary lead-acid battery pack, soon to be replaced by nickel metal-hydride batteries). For reference, a typical lead acid battery can survive 500-800 cycles while 2,800 cycles is almost 8 years of use assuming one cycle a day. ISO/TS 16949 is the quality management system created by the International Organization of Standards to monitor the design, development, production and servicing of automotive components.

at least, the recycling infrastructure for the well-established lead-acid batteries is robust. lead-acid batteries have a far better recycling rate than even aluminum bottles — over 90% of lead-acid batteries are recycled. None of the new electric cars are planning to use old-tech lead acid batteries.
