MSU microbial electrolysis cell produces ethanol from glycerol, reduces wastewater in biodiesel production

Green Car Congress

Researchers at Michigan State University have developed a microbial electrolysis cell (MEC) which will allow biodiesel plants to eliminate the creation of hazardous wastes while reducing their dependence on fossil fuel. As a result, 1,3-propanediol was generated as a metabolic sink for electrons not converted into electricity syntrophically.

The Reality of Fast Charging for Electric Vehicles

Tony Karrer Delicious EVdriven

Let’s consider a simple example, say an EV conversion that has a 120V pack and a range of around 30 miles. Going back to our formula we will first need to convert our kilowatt value to watts so we have 10,800 * 1000 = 10,800,000 watts needed from the source. I like to use the example of someone driving from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.
