After driving 246 miles through Southern California counties of Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego, we had 30 miles of range remaining on the dash gauge. Bluetooth connection for up-to two devices with USB C-type power and data ports, wireless phone charging and a Wi-Fi Hotspot complete the technology. EPA at 235 miles.

When we took delivery of the Mirai, the dash gauge read 345 miles of estimated range, which means we could have driven from Los Angeles to the Silicon Valley and had a few miles to spare. We refueled with CNG twice; once locally (with a partial fill, more on this below), and once off the I-5 on the way up to Los Angeles. As with any alternative fuel, be it CNG, LPG, electricity, hydrogen or E85, one of the challenges facing its adoption is both the availability of the fuel as well as the mechanics of refueling.
