In 2019, we trained a machine learning model by scattering inert PFM-1 land mines and collecting visual imagery via drone flights in various environments, including roads, urban areas, grassy fields, and places with taller vegetation. Our resulting model correctly detected 92 percent of PFM-1s in these environments, on average.
