Until recently, the four main modular toolkits (modularen Baukästen) of the Group were: the MQB (transverse, driven by the Volkswagen brand); the MLB (longitudinal, driven by the Audi brand); the MSB (standard drive, driven by Porsche); and the NSF (New Small Family). This is Linux-based, that’s an new automotive standard in progress.

The A3 e-tron BEV pilot program will run in the San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington DC, and Denver markets throughout the year and provide actionable feedback and telematics data to Audi engineering teams in the US and Germany. In April 2011, Audi introduced a four-seat A3 e-tron concept plug-in hybrid vehicle in Shanghai.

Better Place introduced its electric vehicle (EV) services platform at the Frankfurt Motor Show, in conjunction with Renault’s unveiling of the Fluence ZE Concept with Quickdrop (switchable) battery system and an expanded agreement with Renault, committing both companies to a volume of at least 100,000 electric cars in Israel and Denmark by 2016.

Since it can refuel from a standard household outlet and from a gasoline station, it needs no new infrastructure. As shown in Figure 1, for electricity, the PHEV can plug into a standard existing electrical outlet, and for supplementary power it can fill its tank from a standard, ubiquitous and familiar fuel station.
