This past week was certainly quite a whirlwind of EV news and developments from Volvo’s plans to end production of ICE vehicles by 2030, yet another proposal to reform the federal EV tax credit, chip shortages, Washington state’s plans to ban ICE vehicles by 2030, Lucid Air delay, Fisker to partner with Foxconn, and much, much more.

The A3 e-tron can cruise at up to 80 mph in all-electric mode; a spec we confirmed—with enjoyment—last week during a media drive in the San Francisco Bay Area. 240-volt charging replenishes the battery in about 2 hours and 15 minutes; recharging through a 120-volt outlet takes approximately 8 hours.

For electric vehicles, the BBBA includes multiple proposed changes to IRC 30D, more commonly knows as the federal EV tax credit. Perhaps the mostly likely is the requirement for EVs to be assembled in the US in a union factory to qualify for an additional $4,500 tax credit. Tax Credit Becomes Refundable.

The fuel engine on the Volt is used to run the generator to recharge the battery when a trip exceeds 40 miles, and it’s rage on a full tank is around 400 miles. How about using a competition sailplane for comparison, instead? It is also flex so that future biomass fuels such as cellulosic ethanol, methanol can be used (no oil).
