BYD Company Limited, one of China’s fastest growing auto manufacturers, will establish the US headquarters of three separate operating divisions in the City of Los Angeles. This year, the company expects to reach 700,000 in vehicle sales. BYD sold nearly 450,000 vehicles in 2009, up 170% from a year earlier.

Forty battery-electric taxis-based on BYD’s e6—officially entered service in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. Wang Chuanfu, chief executive of BYD, said that the five passenger e6 has a maximum speed of 140 km/h (87 mph); consumes 21.5 BYD plans to have 100 E6 taxis on Shenzhen’s roads by the end of June.

Chinese battery firm and electric car company Build Your Dreams (BYD) have claimed their E6 all electric crossover SUV is ready for the U.S. sales headquarters in Los Angeles, BYD public relation manager Du Guozhong has claimed the E6 has passed all.

Electric vehicle suppliers BYD and Mitsubishi have expressed their commitment to provide e6 and i-MiEV electric cars, respectively. The electric utility company, Codensa, will also support the pilot project by providing the required electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
