I’m sure there are still plenty of old-school trains about, but today Chinese are boarding comfortable, high speed electric trains coursing on unimpeded raised trackbeds at over 200 MPH between cities large and ever-larger. Largely dependent on domestic coal, cities are smothered in smog. Next year it will take 6 or 7.

Range is 220 km (137 miles) on the EEC urban cycle, with a maximum speed of 45 km/h (28 mph). In principle, compressed-air cars [CAC] could compete with BEVs in substituting for gasoline cars. The Smart gasoline version weighs 837 kg, the Smart electric weighs 924 kg; the MDI Airpod weighs 330 kg (with driver).

A car like the Circuit does not like to be stuck on roads with 25 mph speed limits, but those roads made up most of the prescribed route. Sorry, but electrics and electric power plants are so efficient that CO2 emissions are less than gassers even when the electricity comes from coal - and a lot of electricity doesnt come from coal.
