These vehicles use large traction battery packs to power the motor. Because EVs run on electricity, the vehicle emits no exhaust from a tailpipe and does not contain the typical liquid fuel components in ICEVs. If it’s manufactured on a ‘dirty’ power grid it becomes a major source of emissions over the EV lifecycle.
