Sales of hybrid vehicles in France rose 46% last month to account for 0.8% The Honda Jazz was the best selling model in this category (455 units), followed by the Toyota Auris (380 units) and Prius (139 units). Added to this are 62 iOn Peugeot, 39 Citroen C-Zero, 17 Nissan Leaf, 13 Mia and 10 Smart Fortwo. of the market.

Over the past decade, the Japanese company has produced millions of Prius, making a contribution to saving gas as great as any other vehicle, but the one thing that the Prius can't seem to shake off is people calling it ugly. French carmaker Citroen has taken a different approach with the DS5 Hybrid.

Car-sharing operator Zipcar and the Westminster City Council in London have launched a new car sharing club fleet that will initially include 20 hybrid vehicles and will offer members access to the country’s first all-electric car club vehicle, a Citroen c1.

Well known hybrid models, the Toyota Prius and the Honda Insight achieved enviable EuroNCAP results today. The batch of tests for eight new cars, included seven cars that scored the maximum five star award, whilst one car, the Citroen C3, received a four star result.

The title of WhatGreenCar Car of the Year 2009 has been awarded to the ‘next generation’ Toyota Prius, due to be launched in the UK on 1 st August 2009. The new Prius was chosen from a short-list of 10 green car finalists which were test-driven at Imperial College, London, by six of the UK’s leading green transport and environmental experts.
