The software upgrade is based upon patented technology developed by Chicago-based Ewert Energy Systems , which has granted PICC exclusive rights for its use in Prius conversion kits. The batteries (which carry an expected 10-year lifetime) are manufactured by Gold Peak Industries North America , a subsidiary of GP Batteries International.

Kia Motors America (KMA) introduced the 2015 Soul EV at the Chicago Auto Show. Internal testing and evaluation showed results exceeding 100 miles in some instances. Recharging times vary from 24 hours for a fully depleted battery using a standard 120-volt outlet and under five hours when plugged into a 240-volt outlet.

Electric car supporters are rising to defend General Motors’ development of the Chevy Volt after the Obama Administration’s automotive task force proclaimed that the car was probably too expensive to be commercially successful in the near future. is hoping to launch the Volt in late 2010 with a price tag of about $40,000. and Chrysler.
