Chery’s rough and ready iCar 4×4 electric brand has been locked-in for an Australian debut. Later on, iCar will even hatch a compact 4×4 ute, says Autocar, which also revealed the Chery-owned car-maker will be forced to rename itself ‘iCaur’ because Apple owns the trademark for iCar. 2025 iCar V23.

You might be a car-racist I’ve just returned from the Australian launch of the Jaecoo brand, the self-styled “premium SUV” arm of Chinese budget giant Chery. Chery, of course, only returned in 2023 after previously selling four-wheeled horrors here between 2011 and 2014. Opel comically lasted less than a year.

The new addition to MG’s mid-sized SUV model is more expensive than petrol-only models, but with claimed EV range of 120km it promises running costs savings as a tempter.
