Out in the desert as part of Burning Man , our encampment, Snow Koan Solar, is setting up a solar photovoltaic EV Charging Station (at 7:30 and Desert) for electric scooters, golf carts, sofas and barstools. The plug-in Priuses are almost doubling the fuel efficiency of Google standard Prius fleet, getting 74 MPG rather than 41 MPG.

Fuel economy for the 2022 UX 250h, which runs on 87 octane gasoline, is EPA rated at 41 mpg city/38 highway/39 combined, but in the Eco drive mode our time traversing Southern California highways covered 221 miles at an average of 42.7 mpg, and on short in-town runs I was getting in excess of 50 mpg. Your numbers may differ.

MG 1 starts the gasoline engine and charges the nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery, while MG2 drives the front wheels and regenerates the battery during braking and coasting, and MGR drives the rear wheels and also regenerates the battery. The EPA rates fuel economy at 31 mpg city/28 highway/30 combined. Movin’ on up.

Toyota introduced the production Prius Plug-in Hybrid at the Green Drive Expo in Richmond, CA, as the newest member of the expanding Prius Family. kWh Li-ion pack enabling an electric range of up to 15 miles (24 km) at speeds of up to 62 mph (100 km/h), according to Toyota. A charge timer allows you to set charge start and finish time.
