UK-based Elektromotive has appointed The PluginCompany to install networks of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Belgium and Luxembourg. Pilot schemes will see the installation of 20 Elektrobay units in the two countries by the end of this year, ahead of further planned rollouts during 2010. The Elektrobay.

THE UK GOVERNMENT will introduce legislation to include electric vehicle charging points on all new-build homes and offices in England, it has been confirmed. The government first proposed the potential world-first legislation that all new-build homes would get charging points back in 2019.

The Government is also encouraging a new network of electric vehicle recharging points in streets, car parks and commercial retail and leisure facilities as driving electric cars becomes a part of everyday life for pioneering British drivers. The Government also announced plans to roll-out the first tranche of a £30 million (US$46 million) fund for a network of electric vehicle hubs—called Plugged-In Places—which will see electric vehicle charging infrastructure appearing in car parks, major supermarkets, leisure and retail centres, as well as on the street.
