Make no mistake; both the Fusion Hybrid and C-Max Hybrid still deliver excellent fuel economy. The Fusion Hybrid’s 39 mpg is the best of any family sedan we’ve tested, edging out the Toyota Camry Hybrid by 1 mpg. And the C-Max Hybrid’s 37 mpg is second only to the Prius V’s 41 mpg in its class.

During our week in the Sonata Hybrid, we drove 345 miles through Southern California, averaging 49.3 Our freeway fuel economy test loop of 210 miles, with the adaptive cruise control set to 65 mph, averaged a very impressive 55.8 Over the course of a year, Hyundai says it could add more than 700 miles of driving range.

Hyundai began the US rollout of the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) ( earlier post ) and its conventional hybrid sibling (HEV) with a series of media drives in California—one of the main markets for the PHEV, which offers some 24 miles (38.6 km) of all electric range and a 9.8 Hybrid mode.

Clean Fleet Report was driving the highly optioned Limited, which had the standard solar panel roof that charges the 12-volt and hybrid batteries, producing two miles of electric driving range for every six hours the car is left in the sun.
