In a project co-funded by the US Department of Energy and managed by Ecotality North America, the Advanced Lead Acid Battery Consortium (ALABC) has demonstrated the durability of lead-carbon batteries in the high-rate, partial state-of-charge operation of a hybrid electric vehicle. The battery capacity was 7.54 Ah for the new modules.

The Citroën C1 evie goes on sale today priced from £16,850. It is capable of 60mph and has a 60-70 mile range when fully charged. The C1 evie takes around 6-7 hours to charge from a normal domestic socket. The C1 evie is available directly from ECC.

Axeon , Europe’s largest independent lithium-ion battery systems supplier, will develop a new high-capacity battery system for the electric Citroën C1 ev’ie, manufactured by the UK-based Electric Car Corporation ( earlier post ), with a view to supplying between 300 and 500 units in the 12 months following a successful trial.

BMW Motorrad earlier developed an electric study vehicle, the C1-E, as a contribution to the European safety project eSUM. The high storage capacity of the battery allows a daily driving range of more than 100 kilometers (62 miles). When the battery is completely flat, the charging period is less than three hours.
