Why not just go online and buy a golf cart? Most are lead acid powered, but they are cheaper than the BYD units, and provide about as much safety in a frontal and side impact collision according to various golfers' institutes. for the BYD base model, the golf cart is prolly faster.

In early testing, reviewers said a plug-in electric hybrid sedan from Chinas BYD Co. But the gasoline engine in the BYD rattled and could be noisy when it kicked in, the reviewers said. BYD has said it is aware of these issues and is working resolve them. and Korean golf cart maker CT&T Co.

Blending the MPG of SUVs and small cars understates the real consumption and rewards automakers for building gas hogs and unsafe micro cars which makes people want to buy "safe" gas hogs. You guys go ahead and buy your 40 mile per charge GM golf cart. Oh, and it looks wayyyyy cooler than the Volt.
