The Chrysler Corporation sold vans based on the B-Series platform from the 1971 through 2003 model years, giving them Dodge , Plymouth and Fargo badging along the way. Today's Junkyard Find is a first-generation B-van, found in a Colorado boneyard. The build tag says it was built at St. Such luxury! Next stop: The Crusher !

Here's one of those first-generation Fairlanes, found in a self-service boneyard just south of Denver, Colorado. There's a lot of great vintage stuff at Colorado Auto & Parts right now. The build tag tells us that this car was assembled at Ford's Kansas City plant on July 14, 1964 (the day Jaxques Anquetil won the Tour de France ).

It was so successful that it stayed in production in essentially its original form through three corporations and into the following century. The Grand Cherokee was supposed to be the XJ Cherokee's replacement, but buyers kept driving XJs out of Jeep showrooms and so Chrysler and, later, DaimlerChrysler kept building them.

Studebaker had been building vehicles in North America since German immigrant Peter Stutenbecker sold his first wagon in the British Province of Maryland in 1740. The first Studebaker car was an EV that went into production in South Bend in 1902. By the 1950s, however, small manufacturers were being crushed by GM, Ford and Chrysler.
