General Motors (GM) is recalling certain model year 2012 and 2013 Buick LaCrosse and Regal, and model year 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco vehicles equipped with the eAssist light electrification system. Starting with the arrival of 2013 models, eAssist is standard on the Regal with the discontinuation of the 2.4L liter gasoline engine.

This is the most powerful mass production gasoline engine offered by Mazda, putting out 340 hp and 369 lb.-ft. liter non-turbocharged inline-4 mated to a 100 kilowatt (kW) electric motor.

Mazda has been repositioning itself into the premium category, and the CX-90 will give it a larger SUV to compete with the Acura MDX , Buick Enclave , Kia Telluride , Hyundai Palisade , Subaru Ascent and Toyota Highlande r. The engine works in conjunction with an electric motor and a rechargeable 17.8 liter inline 6-cylinder engine.

In the US, GM will focus on its core brands; Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC. Pontiac will serve as a focused brand with fewer entries, within the Buick-Pontiac-GMC channel. GM’s dealer count is also projected to be further reduced, from 6,246 in 2008 to 4,700 by 2012, and to 4,100 by 2014. GM Fuel Economy plans.
