BMW dedicated a portion of its recent Innovation Days 2009 event to the topic of Intelligent Heat management as a mechanism for reducing fuel consumption and CO 2 emissions. The remaining two-thirds are lost as waste heat going into the environment through the car’s exhaust emissions and through the radiator.

In celebration of its 25 th birthday, BMW Forschung und Technik (Research and technology) GmbH premiered the results of two projects designed to highlight ways of reducing fuel consumption and emission values: a prototype fuel-cell hybrid vehicle, and a concept for using an on-board reformer to produce hydrogen from conventional hydrocarbon fuel.

BMW has provided some additional detail on its two-mode ActiveHybrid X6, as well as updating some of the figures released for the introduction of the production model at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The ActiveHybrid X6 arrives in US BMW Centers in the fourth quarter.

The BMW ActiveHybrid X6. BMW announced the production versions of the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 and the BMW ActiveHybrid 7. The ActiveHybrid X6 will reach US BMW Centers in fourth-quarter 2009, and the ActiveHybrid 7 will arrive in the US in Spring 2010. Luggage compartment capacity is the same as on the original BMW X6.

In the course of five model generations, overall sales of the BMW 5 Series have reached more than 5.5 The new BMW 5 Series Sedan is making its debut with one eight-cylinder and three six-cylinder gasoline engines as well as two six-cylinder diesels.
