The Flying Spur plug-in hybrid sedan , priced from $479,100 (plus on-road costs), will be followed within 12 months by a PHEV version of the Bentayga SUV. PHEV versions of the Continental GT and GTC coupe and convertibles should be in Australia by mid-decade. In 2030 Bentley will end ICE production all together and only make EVs.

Upcoming Lamborghini LB744 supercar gets a new V12 engine and three electric motors as part of a plug-in hybrid EV (PHEV) system Rather than downsizing the engine or switching only to electric motors, the Italian sports car maker has instead added three electric motors to the supercar mix. Yep, you read that right.

Drive Electric analysis done in March showed the reduction in emissions of vehicles imported since the policy came into effect will save more than 2m tonnes of emissions over the lives of those vehicles, and $100m a year in petrol and diesel. There’s more to do. This discount won’t be needed forever – perhaps only another few years.

Intriguingly you can feel the transmission shifting gears in EV mode, and if you need the petrol engine to kick into life to help you along in EV mode, the transition is very smooth. Aston Martin DBX PHEV and EV – electrified versions of AM’s first SUV on the cards. No surprises there are promises of big performance for a PHEV due late in 2022 or early 2023.
