is hoping to launch the Volt in late 2010 with a price tag of about $40,000. Also maintenance on these (no oil changes to speak of) etc will cost much less than an internal combution propelled car. I understand that with new technology the price is often hi but come on. Learn your facts before you post please.

I appreciate our energy company’s trying to do something but they cant really justify it until there is a price on the externalities like carbon emissions. — CGC 22. And, if you consider lifetime costs of owning an EV versus owning a traditional internal combustion car, even if the initial purchase price of the EV is much more than your combustion car and you have to replace a battery for $4,000 after 7-10 years, the EV still costs less to operate. If you charge with solar, is way less.
