Ford, Detroit Edison and Xtreme Power are teaming up to establish one of Michigan’s largest solar power generation systems and electric vehicle charging stations at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Mich. Ford will work with Detroit Edison to install a 500 kW solar photovoltaic panel system at Michigan Assembly.

This includes all of the resources used in manufacturing the vehicle, the battery, and powering the vehicle. Also, batteries can be reused for other purposes, and the minerals in batteries can be recycled almost infinitely. Thanks to federal regulations, EV batteries are required to be 8 years or 100,000 miles.
