Following the launch of BYD’s first pickup, the Shark PHEV, Toyota is testing an all-electric Hilux BEV model. Toyota is preparing to produce its first electric pickup in Thailand by the end of next year. Combined, the Shark PHEV can travel 840 km (522 mi) NEDC range. A new report claims BYD’s new EV platform will slash costs even further as the automaker kicks off a “liberation battle” against gas-powered cars. It’s gas-powered cars. BYD launched a price war on ICE vehicles last month with the new Qin Plus EV and PHEV models. This will make it hard for traditional gas cars to compete.
