BYD announced the launch of Hong Kong’s first all-electric taxi fleet using the BYD e6 electric cross-over sedan. Hongkong first pure electric taxi fleet. Hongkong first pure electric taxi fleet. After being selected through a public bidding process, BYD has delivered 500 battery-electric, e6 police vehicles to the Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau this week. The BYD e6 reaches speeds of over 140 km/h (~87 mph) with a range of 300 km (187 miles), making it suited for the demands of police utility vehicles.

Rotterdam Taxi Centre (RTC), one of the biggest taxi operators in the Netherlands, is switching to electric taxis and has put into service two BYD e6 models, following successful extensive operation with an e6 model. The battery has a more than 4,000 rated cycle life with the highest safety level in the industry.
